BNTM Post - And the winner is....

First off, I feel the need to apologise for completely neglecting the blogging for a few weeks. It was only partly my fault, Luke commandeered my computer for almost two weeks straight in order to write and re-write a job application. To be a researcher. On The Gadget Show. A boys gotta dream.

I wanted to blog tonight after watching the live final of Britain's Next Top Model. I have to say, I haven't been as impressed with this series of BNTM in comparison to last, even if the beautiful Elle Macpherson was supposed to give it a bit of a boost. The girls didnt seem to be quite as promising as, say, Jade McSorley, and not to mention Julian Macdonald gets RIGHT on my wick. He may be a decent designer (I'm not going crazy) but he's also the most irritating judge on the planet. WHY they decided to cast him in this role, I have no idea, he's simply vile. Didn't they see him rip into the 'larger' girl on the second season Project Catwalk? Enough said.

Anyway, after much anticipation and a rather weird final set up forcing me to sit through not only McBoring McFly but TITCHY TINCHY STRIDER, the winner was finally announced as Tiffany Pisani, the formally blonde pixie-esque beauty from Malta.

I have to say, I was really pleased with the decision. Out of the three in the final, Tiffany was by far my favourite. Alisha probably would have been a worthy winner also, I'm just glad it wasnt Joy. I may be a fellow Yorkshire Girl but I don't really see the point in crowning a girl as a "next top model" when she hates runway. Mental.

Here are some of my favourite photographs of Tiffany taken throughout the competition:

What were your opinions on tonight's episode?

Speaking of Tinchy Strider, quite randomly, Luke was on stage on Saturday drumming for Quaino (a local R&B singer) who was supporting Tinchy - how random is that? They met the guy that organises T4 on the Beach too.

Finally, I couldn't end my post without mentioning that my Etsy store is now, finally, open!!! Check out the jewellery I make for sale now at http://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleRachael

I'll talk about that more in my next post :-)

Bedtime for me I think,

Fashionlista!

This week I discovered Fashiolista.com and I'm already addicted!! For those of you that don't know, Fashiolista is website where users can share their fashion finds from nearly any online shop with other users using a browser add-in button. You can then search other users' finds to gain fashion inspiration, learn about other peoples styles and discover the best fashion buys without having to search all over the internet. As well as sharing your own finds, you can "love" items other people have found which are then added to your profile. You can also follow your favourite users and go directly to their finds from your profile and vice versa.

You can view my profile here or by using the side bar on your right! I'm addicted even after one week and have already racked up 100 'loves', 23 'finds', 20 'following' and 7 'follows'. If you have an account add me :-) If not, definitely take a look!

Here are some of my favourite finds of the week:

Are you addicted yet? ;-)

Another day, another blog design.

In my super-busy post-holiday back-to-work frenzy, I haven't managed to find much time at all to blog this week! I've finally managed to find a lull in activities and spent the last few hours updating the blog layout! What do you think?! I'm still not sure about the background image... it isn't one of my own, just one off the blogger choices, but I quite liked it a first... I'm not quite sure if it goes with the new banner though?!

That banner was a MASSIVE achievement for me today, haha, as I finally worked out how to create images with transparent backgrounds. I could have kicked myself for not knowing it was as simple as the file format I was using.. I seem to default to JPG which, I'm sure most of you have known for AGES, doesn't support transparent backgrounds. I then moved on to GIF - quickly realising it could handle transparent images but not semi-transparent. I really wanted to be able to give that "filter" effect with a definite colour but so you could still see the background behind. It was at this point that I have now been introduced to PNG - a file format I have to admit, I have never used before in my life. I realise this is probably something you all know already and is therefore very boring and mundane! haha, sorry about that.

Annyyywayyy... do you like?! The blog frame is now wide enough to display photos the way I wanted, which was the main motivation behind changing the layout in the first place (that and I get bored easily!). I'm relatively happy with it overall!

Now, enough about that - lets inject just a little bit of vintage into this post -and with that, I present to you the Prince of Wales! If you haven't already seen this article for Sky News, give it a read here. Mr Windsor may be a bit of a fuddy duddy, but his heart, I feel, is always in the right place.

As a send off till next time, here are a few inspirational images to cast your eyes over....

I'm Baaaackk! - Best week of my life!

Helloooo Everyone!! It's been quite a while since my last blog entry. As most of you know, I went to Turkey for a week with the beautiful Luke (BEST. WEEK. EVER.) and then this week has, of course, been GCSE Results week so it's been absolutely MENTAL.

Turkey was amazing... I've never actually been before and was a little naive about just how beautiful it is! We avoided Marmaris (not keen..) and instead stayed in Oludeniz, argueably the most beautiful place in Turkey. To top it off, two of our really good friends were staying just up the mountain in Hisanoru and we ended up having some very random entertaining nights with them!! Despite work being crazy mental this week, I'm still buzzing... I just wish we'd had longer than a week there!! I'll be back to the normal blogging and vintage chatter when I get a wee bit more free time (Sid and Abby coming to stay this weekend! the ball doesn't stop rolling at the moment!!) but for now, here are a couple of my favourite pictures from our holiday <3

Enjoy

Saklikent Gorge - one of the most beautiful places we visited - that water was FREEZING.

I really wanted to spend more time there, we definitely have to go for longer than a week next time!

Have any of you been anywhere nice this summer? Turkey definitely made up for the dissapointing English summer we've been having.

Not so Rare,,,,

So, my Rare order came this week. I have to say, my earlier excitement was replaced by slight disappointment, mainly because half the order was far too small for me, whereas the other half, the fit was quite loose! All pieces were a UK size 6. I'm really tiny, and a UK 8 would definitely be too big. Rare even go down to a UK size 4, so if a 6 doesn't fit me, I dread to think the size of those girls!! Maybe I am actually putting on a bit of weight... that would be nice!!!

I do love this look below, even if Luke called me "Sailor" for about an hour... haha. The quality of the photos isn't fantastic - I didn't realise until afterwards that Luke had the camera on completely the wrong setting! (Men!)

Last Saturday was the Sheffield Vintage Fair - great fun! The guy on the door recognised me straight away as he apparently went to school with my brother! (Not a compliment when someone you've never met knows who you are because you look like your brother!!) I didn't manage to find any clothing i wanted, but I did come home with several brooches, two necklaces and a bracelet. I had to take one of the links out to make it fit my miniature wrists (one of the reasons I rarely wear bracelets) but I'm so happy with it now! I will post photos later :-)

A lot of the items there were similar to the sorts of things i make, so I'm considering having a stall there in October!

I've left the most exciting news till last - Luke and I have just booked a last minute holiday to Olu Deniz in Turkey! It looks beautiful - I can't wait!! I worked out that it's been 6 years since I went abroad for a beach-holiday. Far too long! I will be sure to post some photos once we get back!

Happy Thursday!
